English Undergraduate Programs
We are turning a corner this summer, as NJCU merges with Kean University to become Kean Jersey City (as of July 1st). At NJCU, four major concentrations were offered in the English B.A. Students currently pursuing those concentrations will transition into roughly equivalent Kean programs, which you can learn about on the page. The number of credits required for each program is equal to or less than what was required at NJCU.
- Literature, B.A. (Will merge into the English: Standard program.)
- Creative Writing, B.A. (Will merge into the English: Writing program.)
- Teacher Certification Secondary Education (K-12), B.A. (Will merge into the English: Teacher Certification program.)
- Teacher Certification Elementary Education (K-6), B.A. (Students have the option to complete the NJCU English-Education co-major, or transfer to Kean's Elementary Education major.)
The two minors in English at NJCU will merge into the English Minor Program.
Advisement
Academic advisement is crucial to ensure that you are taking the correct courses towards your degree. Contact the University Advisement Center and ask for Ms. Kathleen Banks, the university advisor for English students. Once you have been cleared by an advisor you can register online. If you have questions about the programs or would like to discuss your academic and career choices, feel free to contact the English Department Chair.
