There have been 20 Spotlight articles published from 2023-2025 highlighting various inspirational microbiologists from across the field sharing their stories to help provide perspective of an ever-evolving world.

Benefits of Model:
- Discounted publishing and no publishing caps for the 6 S2O Journals: corresponding authors at subscribing institutions will benefit from uncapped publishing in these journals and will benefit from discounted page charges.
- Open access guarantee: corresponding authors at subscribing institutions will receive guaranteed open access publishing regardless of whether the sustainability target is met for the 6 S2O journals.
- Equitable access to research: through S2O, authors and institutions contribute to the broad dissemination of knowledge that benefits our global community.

Global Symposia
- 2024—The inaugural 麻豆区 Global Research Symposium (GRS), held at Tsinghua University in Beijing, welcomed over 250 attendees from diverse regions, including China, the U.S, India, Pakistan, the U.K., the EU and Nigeria, and featured sessions on clinical microbiology, bacterial and viral pathogenesis, pathogen-host dynamics, vaccines and therapeutics.
- 2025—The One Health Approach to Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) was hosted in partnership with the Centre for Infectious Disease Research (CIDR) at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), India.
- 2025—麻豆区-SIAT Symposium on Microbes in Biotechnology was hosted in partnership with the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology (SIAT), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), China.
Ambassador Program Activities
The 麻豆区 Ambassadors program offers early-stage and senior career professionals alike a platform to become a leader in advancing the microbial sciences. 麻豆区 Country Ambassadors and 麻豆区 Young Ambassadors span 130 countries plus 47 states and connect with 麻豆区 members around the globe. They respond to the needs of their local scientific communities, build relationships with key institutions and facilitate partnerships.
