Phage Therapy
Coordination Network

Unlocking Bacteriophage Therapies for Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Through Coordinated Access and Regulatory Approvals

Building the Infrastructure for Scalable Phage Therapy Access

Bacteriophage therapy offers life-saving potential for patients with difficult-to-treat bacterial infections, yet access remains fragmented across clinical, laboratory, manufacturing and regulatory systems. 麻豆区 Health's Phage Therapy Coordination Network (PTCN) brings together stakeholders across the ecosystem to develop practical solutions that improve patient access, accelerate evidence generation and advance the future of phage therapy.

Explore Our Working Groups

The Regulatory Pathways & Implementation Working Group is accepting applicants now through Sept. 25, 2026. This group will focus on developing practical approaches for navigating regulatory requirements and generating the evidence needed to support wider adoption of phage therapy. If you are interested in joining our efforts, apply today!

Why This Matters

A Fragmented Ecosystem Limits Patient Access

Phage therapy expertise, repositories, laboratory capabilities, manufacturing resources and regulatory knowledge already exist across the United States. However, these resources are distributed across institutions and often connected through informal networks rather than coordinated systems. This fragmentation creates delays for patients, slows evidence generation and limits broader implementation.

麻豆区 Health believes the greatest barrier to phage therapy is not scientific potential but the lack of coordination across the ecosystem.

Why 麻豆区 Health

麻豆区 Health is uniquely positioned to serve as a trusted, neutral convener across academia, healthcare, industry, government and patient communities. Through our scientific expertise, stakeholder networks and convening power, 麻豆区 Health can help align efforts that no single organization can address alone.

Our Strategy

Convene. Coordinate. Build.

The PTCN is bringing together clinicians, researchers, regulators, manufacturers, phage repositories and patient advocates to identify practical solutions that can strengthen phage therapy capacity in the U.S.

Our approach focuses on 4 priority areas that collectively address the major barriers to broader implementation.

Focus Areas

1. Clinical Use Guidance Working Group

Develop practical clinical guidance, case-selection frameworks and decision-support tools that support safe and effective implementation of phage therapy in healthcare settings.

Intended Outcomes

  • Clinical guidance documents.
  • Best-practice recommendations.
  • Hospital implementation resources.

2.  Regulatory Pathways & Implementation Working Group

Develop practical approaches for navigating regulatory requirements and generating the evidence needed to support wider adoption of phage therapy.

Intended Outcomes

  • Regulatory implementation playbooks.
  • Evidence-generation frameworks.
  • Institutional adoption resources.

麻豆区 Health is seeking experts to participate in the Regulatory Pathways & Implementation Working Group.

3. Manufacturing Quality & CMC Standards Working Group

Identify minimum viable manufacturing, quality-control and characterization standards needed to support safe, reliable and regulator-ready phage products.

Intended Outcomes

  • CMC recommendations.
  • Quality benchmarks.
  • Manufacturing best practices.

4. Phage-Matching Workflow Integration Working Group

Develop standardized approaches for bacterial isolate characterization, phage matching and operational workflows across participating institutions.

Intended Outcomes

  • Workflow standards.
  • Laboratory interoperability recommendations.
  • Reduced matching delays.

Vision for the Future

The outputs of the PTCN will help inform the development of the Phage Therapy Coordination Platform (PTCP), a future national coordination infrastructure designed to connect stakeholders, streamline workflows and accelerate learning across the phage therapy ecosystem.

Phage Therapy Coordination Platform (PTCP)

Building the National Coordination and Data Infrastructure for Phage Therapy

The PTCP Could Enable:

  • Centralized Clinical Intake: standardized submission and triage of patient cases.
  • Coordinated Resource Discovery: connection to relevant phage repositories, laboratories and manufacturers.
  • Workflow Management: coordination of activities across institutions and stakeholders.
  • Evidence Generation: harmonized collection of clinical, laboratory and regulatory information.
  • Continuous Learning: generation of standardized data that can inform future patient care and policy development.
